Navigating the Future of Farming

Book

The Island of Luing in Argyll has for centuries been a centre for agriculture and food production. Formerly referred to as the breadbasket of Argyll, it is still a farmed landscape keenly focused on food production. However, recent work has involved maintaining a food production focus whilst also enhancing habitat variety and biodiversity through pond, wetland habitat and woodland creation at landscape scale, whilst ensuring these are well connected with as many habitat linkages as possible.

Come along to hear from the Cadzow family about;

  • The foundation and merits of Luing cattle and their role as conservation grazers
  • Heifer, steer and bull management and biodiversity and carbon implications
  • Pasture management across the island
  • Landscape scale nature restoration across Luing, and neighbouring Scarba.
