John and Nickie Fletcher were the first commercial deer farmers in Europe and set up the first venison mail order business and have written many books on deer and venison between them over the years. The day will give the group the opportunity to see Reediehill Farm where it started and hear John and Nickie’s experiences first hand which we would hope would generate some lively discussion and debate about the challenges facing the deer farming sector right now.

This will be a slightly unusual venue in that John says they have effectively retired from farming although still have around fifty deer. They now specialise in white red deer, selling for breeding.
