Book event

After three successful years, the Sustainable Sheep Systems series returns for its fourth season to focus on ‘Consumer Driven Sustainability’.

The final part of this series will look at the alternatives to soya-based concentrate feeds.

Around 80% of the worlds soyabean crop is destined for agricultural use with soy production more than doubling in the last 20 years, to the detriment of the environment through vast areas of deforestation. As a result, our consumers are increasingly focused on the constituents and source of our livestock diets.

Join us to learn more about the alternative sources of protein we can grow on farm to reduce our reliance on purchased concentrates, from independent sheep and grassland consultant Emily Grant. Farmer Duncan Nelless will also demonstrate the role clover plays in his low-input sheep system at Thistleyhaugh.
